Cowboy Boot - Tradition

cowboy boot

After the Civil War, the Western plains became home to massive cattle drives. Cowboys needed a boot that was designed for long hours on horseback. Boot makers created a boot with a pointed toe to easily slide into the stirrup, a slanted heel that hooks the stirrup, and a high top for protection. Still popular today, the cowboy boot has come to symbolize the free spirit of the American West.
