Wenham Lake Ice Company
Item # 1196610
Before the age of home refrigeration, ice houses harvested blocks of ice from frozen lakes and rivers and kept them insulated for use year-round. Many homes and businesses used "ice boxes," which kept food cold with large blocks delivered straight to the door. Housing the Wenham Lake Ice Company, this quaint building is equipped with specialty tools to cut and grip the ice as well as a conveyer belt to bring the blocks inside. This lit porcelain building includes a standard cord and bulb.
