Canada Christmas Custom Ornament
Item # 1000606
This 3" tall two-tone satin ornament tells the story of the Christmas customs of Canada. Crafted of glass exclusively for Bronner's from Hungary, our Canadian Christmas custom ornament is sure to be a fun and enlightening conversation piece for years to come!
Custom on the back of the ornament reads:
In 1898 Canada instituted its Penny Postal System on Christmas Day, when a stamp was issued with a special Christmas theme. Christmas is observed in various forms in the different provinces. In Labrador, children receive candles placed in a turnip saved from the harvest. Newfoundland fisherman donate the proceeds of their catch to the local parish. In French Quebec, celebrations called Reveillons begin after midnight mass on Christmas Eve and last until dawn. In the areas settled by Scottish highlanders, the psalms resound on Christmas morning. The holiday season ends on January 6, except in Ukranian communities where Christmas is observed on January 7.
