Description

This 3" tall two-tone satin ornament tells the story of the Christmas customs of Switzerland. Crafted of glass exclusively for Bronner's from Hungary, our Swiss Christmas custom ornament is sure to be a fun and enlightening conversation piece for years to come!
Custom on the back of the ornament reads:
Drawing upon four distinct traditions (German, French, Italian, and Romanche, a Swiss dialect), customs are combined according to local usage. Sternsingen (singing to the stars) is a tradition in many places during Advent. The Advent wreath, Advent calendar and Nativity are also displayed. On December 6, St. Nicholas, also known as Samichlaus, and his companion Schmutzli give children treats. Gifts are given on Christmas Eve or New Year's, brought by the Christkindli or St. Nicholas, or even Father Christmas and wife Lucy. Real candles and sparklers are often used on the Christmas tree. In Eastern Switzerland, it is custom to burn an immense log, "Noel's Log."
