Description

This 3" tall two-tone satin ornament tells the story of the Christmas customs of Finland. Crafted of glass exclusively for Bronner's from Hungary, our Finnish Christmas custom ornament is sure to be a fun and enlightening conversation piece for years to come!
Custom on the back of the ornament reads:
Christmas preparations in Finland start in early October with people gathering for evenings of Pikkujoulu or "little Christmas." Families count the days and weeks of the season with Advent calendars and candles. Traditional decorations include national flags and the himmeli, a geometric mobile made of straw. At sunset on Christmas Eve families attend church services to commemorate Christ's birth. That evening, candles are placed on graves to remember loved ones and soldiers. Bearing gifts, Father Christmas arrives from Lapland on a sled drawn by reindeer. Christmas Day is a quiet day of devotion and family visits. The Christmas season comes to a close with Twelfth Night.
