European Glass Ornaments, Made in Germany, Italy, Poland, Czech and Slovak Republics from Bronner's World's Largest Christmas Store – Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland
Like many Christmas traditions, glass Christmas ornaments originate in Germany (Lauscha is well-known for this). Germans in the 1500’s developed a new "blowpipe" as a way to use fire and their breath to "blow" glass into various shapes. These new, unique glass shapes soon became popular adornments for Christmas trees, and in the 1860s, glass blowing expanded to include delicate ornaments made from glass molds. German immigrants carried the glass ornament tradition to the United States and by the mid-1880s, families all over the world were trimming their trees with German-made glass ornaments. Today, Christmas ornaments are manufactured in virtually every country, crafted in a variety of materials, and feature countless themes. Bronner’s has over 6,000 Christmas ornaments, many crafted of glass in the hundreds’ years old European ornament-making tradition. Glass ornaments made in Italy, made in Germany, made in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and made in USA are just a few of the countries that are prominently displayed in our ornament selection.
Christopher Radko and Polonaise ornaments are both well-known and marketed glass ornament collections, beautifully made in Poland. There are many wonderful glass ornament factories in Europe, many who produced ornaments Bronner's purchased for years before the Radko and Polonaise lines were launched and production began in some of these same factories. Some factories continue to produce their own ornaments as well. Due to limited production and distribution availability, Bronner's no longer offers the Radko or Polonaise ornament lines on our website (Bronner's no longer carries Polonaise as the distributor is phasing out of them). If you are interested in a particular Christopher Radko piece, please contact our customer service department through the information at the top of our website.
Bronner's continues to offer a global selection of ornaments made in Germany, Italy, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, the Far East and made in USA. Whether you prefer the style of Italian glass ornament, Polish glass ornaments, old-world Czech glass, Slovakia, Hungarian glass, or the traditions of German glass ornaments, Bronner's buyers continue to shop for you around the globe to offer a wide selection and assortment of styles and prices.
