Teddy bears have always struck a chord in our hearts. Whether we’re five years old or fifty, bears make us feel warmth and love. The Cherished Teddies® collection conveys the cute and cuddly world of teddy bears in a new light. In 1992, the collection began after a woman by the name of Priscilla Hillman and her drawings of the bears were discovered. The famous Enesco Company took on her work and transformed the pictures of these loveable bears into figurines. Today Priscilla is joined by her son, Glenn, in the creation of these adorable Cherished Teddies® figurines.
Like so many other collectible collections, the Cherished Teddies® have several different collectors clubs. The name of the Internet-based club is the Teddies Trader, where members can get together and discuss their newest finds, or just talk about collecting in general. Their newsletter is called the Town Tattler, which updates members on all of the latest news. The online club has been around since 1996, and continues to grow in popularity, celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2006. Many of the Cherished Teddies® figurines have won prestigious awards, such as the Collector Editions Award of Excellence, making them an even more viable collector’s item.
All of the bears that the artist creates are adorable and special in their own way with their own special name. The figurines show the bears in different poses, and usually they are dressed up like real people. This personal touch is what helps to make the Cherished Teddies® collection so endearing.
