Courtesy of Fontanini: A statuette is created from working together in perfect harmony between the Fontanini family members, scluptors and distributors. The idea for the launch of a new Fontanini product or accessory is actually the essence of a making the client, often the nativity collector, increasingly enthusiastic and gratified. The Fontanini of Italy have always allowed their sculptors the freedom to develop models required by their inspiration: "an artist who works with freedom of expression will always offer the best of himself." The first Fontanini figurine model was created in plasticine or modelling clay, and it was nothing more than a outline of the real sculpture that was made in beeswax. Once the model had been inproved, the metal mould was then manufactured manually. Using the modelling clay, the moulder models each of the two halves into which the mould is divided. Once the two parts have been obtained, the plaster mould is then prepared. The two parts are boxed up with glass walls to created a small tank. A plaster that is resistant at very high temperatures is dipped into it. Finally, the metal allow is melted down and dripped over the plaster moulds to make the real Fontanini figurine mould. Before starting the production the mould is moved to the chiselling maching after a test for the final details to be finished.
